CLOVER Director Tim Shay, affiliated Postdoctoral Fellow Seongmin Jang, graduate student Tyler Brittain, and former CLOVER Research Scientist Xinhong Chen led a team effort, including Charles River Laboratory, to identify and characterize the cell surface and extracellular interactions of AAV9 and non-human primate (NHP) brain-enhanced AAV variants. Among other findings, this work identifies a naturally-evolved interaction between AAV9 and the cytokine IL3, as well as interaction of engineered variants AAV9-X1.1 and CAP-Mac with LRP6 at the blood-brain barrier. Additional co-authors include CLOVER Research Associate Yaping Lei, former CLOVER Research Scientist Xiaozhe Ding, former CLOVER Research Technicians Damien Wolfe and Erin Sullivan, and members of the Beckman Institute Proteome Exploration Lab.
